We are very pleased to have modular synth meister Scott Baker (aka abre ojos) performing at this month’s OUTPOST event.
Scott Baker, who after apprenticing under Alan Lamb and learning the power of the drone creates improvisations of dense tangible noise from an analogue modular synthesiser with live visuals inspired by zombies films, conspiracy theories and hidden truths. abre ojos is a Portuguese sailing term when moving through dangerous waters meaning “watch out” or “open your eyes”.
Hi-Ho art lovers,
Here it is, the lineup for Outpost #12 on at 8:30p.m. Wednesday the 29th of August at Horse Bazaar.
We are very excited to have a feature slot from from the wonderful Qua (a.k.a Cornel Wilczek), who started performing live in 2001 after an invite to perform with Pretty Boy Crossover.
Qua’s music is an unrepentantly gorgeous and nostalgic mix of sunlit electronics and guitars, buoyed by complex arrangements. Referentially, Cornel cites his influences as bringing to mind the playfulness of Mouse on Mars, the sophistication of Ennio Morricone and the warm lush pops of Architecture in Helsinki. Check out Qua’s lovely site to read more and treat your ears.
Selector, double bassist, V8 Holden Premier driver and all round good guy DJ Tomtom (a.k.a Thomas W. Butt) is also featuring this month. Experimenting with decks and and effects over beats fresh from the House Of Butt, Outpost #12 will no doubt provide Tomtom with an opportunity push the envelope beyond the dirty dance-floor antics he does so well into the realm of the bizarre.
As always, new players/projectors are most welcome so tell your friends and..
Bring your gear and have no fear!
OUTPOST is a monthly jam night for laptop artists, it's free and anyone is welcome to come down and join in. We also regularly have feature sets with local and international laptop artists.
