OUTPOST is a night for portable digital artists to come together and share performances and ideas.

OUTPOST is part of the share.global organization which hosts events and workshops in New York, San Diego, Los Angeles (USA), Montreal (Canada), Wiesbaden (Germany), and Stavanger (Sweden).

Held on the last Wednesday night of every month at at TETRIS – DJ Wasabi’s new creative warehouse space located at 36 Phoenix St in Brunswick. OUTPOST is a mixture of open jam, featured performances and spontaneous workshop and runs much like other SHARE events over the world.

SPICY FORMAT CHANGES FOR SHARE OUTPOST 2010

Feature Artist Performance and Informal Q’n'A: We have at least one scheduled feature artist each month.
This year, we thought it would be great to also have artists talk about their processes, their gear and find out a bit about what they have been checking out.
This informal Q’n'A will be hosted by our own Byron Scullin.

Prescribed Stimulus Jam: This may be a key word/style/type of material to be used.
The topic for extemporization by performers will be posted on this site a few weeks out. It will also be included in the OUTPOST mail-out the week before the monthly event.

More Impromptu Shorter Sets:
whether you want to give a tasty snack sized version of something you are working up or if you just feel like performing something more spontaneous – this is the arena for you.

Variation In Performance: We love it when things are less predictable, lets mash up different numbers of players, maybe try a round robin tag team type of affair?

Here’s how you can be part of an OUTPOST event.

  • Check out the main page and find out when and where the next event is happening.
  • Make your way to our new venue Tetris – 36 Phoenix St, Brunswick (2 minutes walk from Brunswick Railway Station) – around 8 p.m.
  • Bring any cables you need to connect your rig to the OUTPOST/Tetris system (audio = quarter inch jacks/XLR, video = s/video or composite).
  • Meet up with one of the OUTPOST volunteers and let them know when you would like to play and in what context (solo or in a group) and they will help get you set up.
  • Usually most nights will start with an open jam. Between sets of featured performances (when we have them) there will be more jamming, so don’t worry if you don’t get in right away. We try to run the night so that everyone gets to play at some stage.
  • OUTPOST is run by a core group of sound and video artists so there will always be someone there to play with if you feel like it.
  • Check out this for some tips on how to conduct yourself so that everyone can get along and have a good time.
  • OUTPOST is also a chance to check out what software and hardware other people are using to make their stuff, so feel free to get chatting and find out what everyone is up to.
