Outpost strikes back this Wednesday the 27th of February at Horse Bazaar.
Outpost are also extremely pleased to have two members of improvising electroacoustic ensemble Simulus. If you missed the last Outpost event these lads played at, make sure you check this one. It is also an excellent opportunity to see and hear Ross Bencina’s fantastic app Audio Mulch in action.
On Simulus performances Nat Bates wrote in RealTime 55:
“..the ‘3 amigos of laptop’-Steve Adam, Ross Bencina and Tim Kreger were exceptional because they gave a real sense of 3 musicians/artists playing as an ensemble. This was also largely evident in the sound they produced, as the usual range of smirks and grimaces in the glow of the monitor screens gave little away”.
NEWS ON THE JAMS FOR OUTPOST
We are going to try something a little different for the jam component of Outpost this month. Three of the jams will be themed to explore some group delivery of the following concepts.
1. Dynamic Interjection. Using only short sounds. Play for a bit and then don’t play for a bit longer
2. Pitch Evolution. Start high and gradually work your way down over time.
3. One Sound Jam. Use only one sound and develop.
