Random Acts of Elevator Music make rare out-of-office-hours appearance…

Taking a break from a heavy work schedule of daytime elevator performances in Melbourne’s office buildings, Random Acts of Elevator Music bring their live muzaktronica to Outpost at Bar Open on Wednesday September the 30th. Experience these soothing oscillations and melodies and enjoy your resultant increase in productivity.

Random Acts of Elevator Music is the latest project from City Frequencies, a collaboration between Matt Adair and Nick Wilson, who work together on sound projects within the metropolitan environment.

Winterpark (solo)

Begun in 2005 as a collaborative musical studio project by Melbourne musician Matt Ridgway, Winterpark soon evolved into a live band that merged elements of sound design, pop, electronica and noise. 2006 saw the release of the debut album ‘One Night Alone’. 2007 saw the band take on the world with an adventure that saw them film a clip in the back alleys of Brooklyn, play at Iceland’s airwaves festival parties for free drinks, carry equipment on the Paris underground to play Parties, travel to Prague to play at a bookstore, and write songs in a makeshift apartment in Berlin.

2008 saw Winterpark back on home turf, independently releasing ‘Falling Men and Flying Dreams’ and a subsequent east coast album launch tour.

2009 brings a new chapter, with Matt creating melodic, ambient, layered, textural music with heavily processed guitar, vocals and live laptop. Playing at OUTPOST as part of Melbourne Fringe Festival. Wednesday Sept 30th.

Evil Jed @ OUTPOST next Wednesday 26 August

We are excited to have Outpost alumni, producer and sonic landscaper Evil Jed (a.k.a. Gerrard Jenner) doing a feature set at this month’s OUTPOST event – Wednesday August 26 from 8:30 p.m. at Bar Open.

Jed has been sculpting environments for listeners to cohabitate for the last 12 years and his musical output runs the full gamut from pop to experimental, with his latest works having a dub techno/haunted house flavour.
Jed also employs home built electronics and programmed devices into his live sets so expect an exciting performance.

Jammers bring your gear and get it on…

Peaceout

abre ojos @ OUTPOST Wednesday June 29th

We are very pleased to have modular synth meister Scott Baker (aka abre ojos) performing at this month’s OUTPOST event.

Scott Baker, who after apprenticing under Alan Lamb and learning the power of the drone creates improvisations of dense tangible noise from an analogue modular synthesiser with live visuals inspired by zombies films, conspiracy theories and hidden truths. abre ojos is a Portuguese sailing term when moving through dangerous waters meaning “watch out” or “open your eyes”.

Check out some fine abre ojos work right here…

Peter Knight performance @ June OUTPOST

A relatively quiet night down at Bar Open last night, but an exemplary set from Peter Knight – aka Allotrope. Peter gave a fine performance in which he captured a plethora of sounds (all generated from his horn) and intertwined tasteful live processing with some on the fly arranging to create some spontaneous work that spanned from microscopic sounds of the human vessel to lush cinematic textures. Another fine example of the fine musicianship of one Peter Knight.

OUTPOST V-tar action @ Bar Open 27/05/09

The monthly audio-video jam session/love in that is OUTPOST is on from 8:30pm Wednesday 27th of May at Bar Open.

Be sure to bring your devices down for a play or just bring yourselves for a tech perve and a tasty beverage.

Straight outta Adelaide, we are delighted to have a feature slot from v-tar wielding video and sound artist Lynne Sanderson (VJ Sustenance), who came and jammed with the OUTPOST/Plug’n'Play collectives for last years Digital Fringe webcast on mogulus.

Based in Adelaide, Lynne has been entertaining clubbers with her original style of layered visuals since 1992. From small to large shows, some of the highlights have included Dave Clarke and Aphex Twin. She has also crossed over to corporate shows such as the launch of the Adelaide Film Festival 2005 and was resident at the Adelaide Festival’s Persian Garden 2006/08. Lynne’s obsession with more fluid performative control led her to create the v-tar, a visual controller in the shape of a flying v guitar.

Over the years, Lynne also has led a parallel life as a media artist. Her artworks are interactive and involve the participation of the public. She has exhibited extensively including MTV Australia, the Museum of Modern Art NYC, ISEA95 Montreal, Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art, Sydney Opera House, Biennale of Electronic Art Perth (BEAP) and the New Forms Festival, Vancouver, Canada.

After many years of collaborations and conversations with musicians, Lynne has decided to try her hand at creating audio. Over the last month Lynne has been creating dark, minimal beats using a Nintendo DS.

For her show at Share Outpost she will be triggering aspects of both the audio and visual on the v-tar. Lynne is experimenting with the live implementation and performance of these mediums. She is exploring the process of what is it to create sound from a visual perspective. This is her AV debut and a work in progress.

The Jams are on as always, new players/projectors/purveyors are most welcome so tell your friends and..
Bring your gear and have no fear!

See you Wednesday the 27th..
